Our WE INITIATIVE
WE aim to Elevate, Empower, and Educate women through education and mentoring.
In the next ten years there will be a 27% increase in job opportunities for individuals who have an education in nursing. Women With A Cause founder, Susan Kiely, thought the medical field would be the perfect profession that would give homeless and/or low income mothers and/or female veterans a sense of empowerment.
In partnership with Women With A Cause and the WE Initiative, Regis University: Rueckert-Hartman College for Health Professionals, a private institution of learning, offers two scholarships each year. These women will also have the opportunity to enter into an honors geriatric nursing program.
Area colleges such as Community College of Aurora, Community College of Denver, University of Colorado College of Nursing, and Metropolitan State University School of Hospitality have also agreed to partner with us in an attempt to prepare women to become registered nurses and dental hygienists. WE Scholars also study in the field of hospitality at Metro State University of Denver. Currently, Women With A Cause is helping to support single mothers financially, emotionally and educationally through scholarships, mentors, financial management and tutors. Comfort Dental is partnering with WWAC in the area of Dental Hygiene studies by providing a grant each year for two qualified students. These women are called Comfort Dental Scholars.
According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, the recession has forced 1.5 million more people into homelessness. WWAC has also discovered that the fastest growing sector of homeless people in the United States is single women.
Along with these startling facts WWAC has been informed that homelessness among female veterans has doubled in the last 10 years, and out of every 131,000 homeless veterans, 6,500 of these are women.
With a 10% to 15% unemployment rate in the United States, based on the above data, Women With A Cause has decided to act by launching the 2011 WE Initiative.
In addition to studies in the areas of Nursing and Dental Hygiene WWAC also offers a myriad of certificates through a partnership with Emily Griffith Technical College.

This fabulous mother is now truly capable of providing for the entire family.
